In improving the quality of education in the study program, internationalization efforts have been made, one of which is collaborating with renowned universities abroad. From 2017 to 2021 (the first MOA), the German Language Education Study Program at FBS UNY began collaborating with Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität (WWU) Münster, Germany. The second MOA has been signed and is valid from 2022 to 2025. Collaboration with WWU Münster University is a result of the International Study and Training Partnerships (ISAP) offered by DAAD to all universities in Germany to collaborate with universities worldwide. However, only one university is accepted in each selection. The German Language Education Study Program at FBS UNY was selected as the only department chosen for ISAP program in Indonesia.

Transfer credits to Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Germany, and to the German Language Education Study Program at FBS UNY are based on the MOA; a scrutiny of courses in the curriculum suitable for students is conducted by both parties; Transfer credits are carried out by students going to Muenster, Germany, for one semester. Likewise, transfer credits for students from Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster to the German Language Education Study Program at FBS UNY are done by coming to UNY.

Lecturers demonstrate professionalism in improving the quality of educational services, as evidenced in 2019 when one lecturer (Prof. Dr. Pratomo Widodo, MPd.) undertook a VP-out program to Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Germany. In 2020, it was agreed that another lecturer (Prof. Dr. Sulis Triyono, MPd.) would also undertake the same VP-out program, but due to the pandemic, the program was postponed. Therefore, VP-in from Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Germany (Kordula Schulze, M.A., in 2019 and 2020) was focused on developing strategies and online/zoom-based learning in the program. In 2022, this activity resumed offline with the sending of students and workshop activities.
